Bora Bora owes me nothing, but trust me; I will be returning!
As a Certified Travel Professional and Chief Experience Officer of JTS Vacations, I have stayed at some of the best luxury resorts, but this one takes the top of the list. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa.
From the moment we arrived at the airport in Bora Bora we were greeted with leis and a cold bottle of water. We were then whisked away by their private resort ferry to start the adventure of a lifetime. When we arrived at the dock of the resort, we were greeted by the sounding off of our arrival. It was a genuinely Polynesian experience. We were given the resort tour and then taken to check-in. Of course, I couldn’t go to my ultimate destination without getting an over-water villa.
It is known for its exclusivity so every moment is meant to be savored as most would consider it to be a bucket list destination. Be prepared and bring a lot of cash with you because everything comes at a premium. We are accustomed to spending more when dining or shopping on property but this vacation was a bit more than usual. Unless you took a water ferry into town that cost $60 roundtrip you were confined to the resort, therefore more money will be spent food or souvenirs.
You can’t visit here without staying in an over-water villa. We had dinner on our private deck just about every evening under the stars. It is a place for romance as we were there celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We met plenty of newlyweds as well as other couples renewing their vows. Believe it or not, there were families there as well so don’t be surprised if you see kids.
In Bora Bora, we went snorkeling with the shark and rays, and it was the most fantastic thing I have ever done and seen in my life. The water was mesmerizing and nearly took my breath away as we sped through the Pacific on our boat. Check out the view I had while on this tour in the video below. Simply amazing!
While in the South Pacific we explored Tahiti as well. I must say that Bora Bora is the destination of choice for your trip. Tahiti was more of a pass-through location and it did not captivate me the way that Bora Bora did. We stayed in Tahiti for the last two days of our trip to be close to the airport for our long flight back home. We toured Tahiti for the day as well and decided after that to only come back as a stop to the other islands or just long enough to catch a flight out back to the States.
